Kurt "Mac" MacReady is a helicopter pilot who works for the Dino Attack Team.
Prior to the Dino Attack, MacReady worked in an Antarctic research station alongside eleven other men. He served as the expedition's primary helicopter pilot, and was frequently tasked with getting other members of the team from place to place. As a result, he was present at some incredible discoveries, including an alien spaceship that was buried in the ice for 100,000 years.
When the Dino Attack broke out, MacReady, already stationed in Antarctica, was hired alongside his teammates and other research teams already operating in Antarctica to assist in preparations. He was often tasked with getting small groups of refugees to shelters, initially using his own base.
However, it soon became clear that the already confined research stations built with only a small group of people in mind and only enough provisions to last a finite number of people. Naturally, the scientists reluctantly agreed to assist in constructing refugee facilities. MacReady's skills were a major asset in transporting building materials and workmen around, allowing the bases to be constructed reasonably quickly.
Once the facilities were established and running independently, MacReady was allowed to join the Dino Attack Team. However, he was never assigned to any real combat positions, mostly just getting sent between various outposts before finally being transferred to Outpost 7 on Adventurers' Island.
Abilities and TraitsEdit
Mac is a skilled pilot, a skill that often benefited his team in Antarctica. However, outside of his work as a pilot, Mac is socially awkward. He is an alcoholic, and often finds himself drinking wine in his spare time. He tends to be very quiet and often isolates himself from others. Nonetheless, he gets along okay with his teammates, and when things get rough, Mac can prove to be a good leader.
- MacReady is loosely based off of R.J. MacReady, the protagonist in John Carpenter's 1981 horror film The Thing.
